'H1Z1' Release Date: Sony Might Delay PS4 Launch, PC Version to Come Later in 2014- Air Drops?
Fans of zombie apocalypse games are disappointed as there are rumors afloat saying that Sony Online Entertainment is likely to delay the release date for the upcoming PS4 title, 'H1Z1', by another year.
Previous reports said that the release of the PC version, as well as the PS4 edition, of the zombie survival video game was scheduled for Fall 2014. However, the latest developments say that Sony Online Entertainment will only be releasing the PC version of the game this year.
An official release issued by the developer stated that while they are currently working on the game, the PS4 edition of 'H1Z1' is still in development.
The statement issued by John Smedly, Sony Online Entertainment President, reads, "Though Sony Online Entertainment has stated multiple times already that they were planning on bringing it to the PlayStation 4. Today, the studio confirmed that that will indeed be the case. We're SONY Online, so we have a certain level of quality we like to achieve before putting a game out. And the fact is it doesn't go out until we are happy with it."
Smedley also added that the PC edition of the much awaited post-apocalyptic game will come out first. The release of the PC edition stands a strong chance happen later this year.
According to early reports, Sony Online Entertainment may be adding a real-cash supply-drop purchase option in the game. In other words, this would enable the players to purchase useful items and receive them via airdrops.
Taking to the media at the PAX Prime event in Seattle last September, the game's senior designer, Jimmy Whisenhunt said that they are seriously considering including the airdrop option.
Whisenhunt said, "One of the things we're looking at is selling airdrops. We don't want to mess with the hardcore survival aspects, but ... once you order one, it spawns into the world. Players see the C130 spawn into the world, so you're giving other players the opportunity to jack your stuff."
Nevertheless, it is believed that this option can also be a problem for players, as an airdropped purchase can easily disclose their hiding place to opponents.
