Gran Turismo 7 Release Date 2015: Polyphony to Add More Racing Cars, Keeping Older Models
Although Gran Turismo 7 may not be released on PS4 this year, it will be retaining the cars that have remained with the franchise since the PlayStation 2 era.
Polyphony Digital has recently corroborated that it will develop the next episode of Gran Turismo, which will be exclusively launched on PlayStation 4 - hopefully to make a comeback as Sony's top racing game.
Kanuzori Yamauchi, Polyphony Digital CEO, asserted in an article published in the Eurogamer that the company has begun working on developing Gran Turismo 7. He has, however, ruled out a 2014 release date for the game, Yamuchi said, "We are working on the title," adding, "I don't think it'll make this year!"
Meanwhile, fans of Gran Turismo have expressed their disappointment, as per an earlier statement Yamauchi was more hopeful of releasing the game this year. In November 2013, when he was asked about the probable release date of Gran Turismo 7, Yamauchi remarked, "We don't want to take too long on Gran Turismo 7," Yamauchi told Top Gear, "Best-case scenario? Next year."
At the same time, Polyphony Digital CEO discarded the idea that the total refurbishment of the title would mean that fans will not be able to see or drive the models that have been in existence since 2004.
He said, "I doubt that we'll be throwing away the standard cars," adding, "Each car has its individual fans. So I think we'll hang on to the archive. In the meanwhile, some of those cars we may be able to make into Premium cars as they become available - but basically we're more focused on increasing the number of premium cars."
Even as Polyphony has decided to keep the older cars in the series, the company is now focusing on the development of the racetrack selections, both copycats of real-world as well as original tracks.
Being a photographer himself, Yamauchi emphasized that he is not very pleased with the current "photo mode" rendition in Gran Turismo 6. Currently, he is pushing the boundaries and anticipates that the successor will highlight next generation graphics and user experience.
