'God Of War 4' Release Date, News & Rumors: Next Title Centers On Classic Scenes And New Weapon

Along with talks that Sony's "God of War 4" is set to be different from its predecessors, it is revealed that the upcoming game title is set to feature classic scenes.

"God of War" creative director Cory Barlog confirmed that fans would indeed see classic scenes in the forthcoming title. In his interview with EPNdotTV, Barlog was asked whether fans might be able to play classic scenes from the series as flashbacks. He said "Ooooh - that sounds interesting! Maybe something like that would happen.

Aside from the discussion on "God of War 4," Barlog also talked about Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us." In the same interview, he said that "The Last of Us" was an amazing game and Naughty Dog was an unbelievably talented team.

Barlog added that to be compared to them was awesome, but for him, the influence was much more that transition from "Resident Evil 3" to "Resident Evil 4" and the "God of War" audience being ready for more mature stories. For the creative director, they were challenging people to go a little deeper, not handing all the answers to them.

In terms of gameplay, fans have already known that the title is set to see Kratos as a mentor to his son. In addition, Kratos is rumored to have a new weapon in the game, as he already left the double chained blades when "God of War 3" ended. According to What Culture, the character is now set to wield a magical battle axe, which can fuse with elemental powers, as his new weapon.

Overall, Sony's "God of War 4" is expected to come out in 2016. Watch more details here.
