'Fargo’ Season 2 Cast News: ‘Burn Notice’ Star Jeffrey Donovan to Play Dodd, Nick Offerman Offered Role

The second season of FX's anthology series 'Fargo' is in the works and fans of the series will be excited to learn that 'Burn Notice' star Jeffrey Donovan is joining the cast.

Sources told The Wrap that Donovan was offered a role in the series and is very close to signing a deal, while 'Parks and Recreation' star Nick Offerman could possibly be in it as well.

Although Offerman is, at present, not negotiating a deal, people who have insider knowledge about 'Fargo' Season 2 casting said last Wednesday that he already received an offer to join the cast.

Donovan, who has been a part of shows including 'Law & Order' and 'Crossing Jordan', was reportedly cast to play the role of Dodd.

Besides Donovan, 'Fargo' Season 2 will also feature Rachel Keller, who is cast as Simone. Additionally, sources went on to say that, 'Mighty Med' stars Mike Bradecich and Allan Dobrescu might also be a part of the series.

However, FX did not respond to The Wrap's request for comments regarding the show's official cast list.

On a side note, the first season of 'Fargo' was an adaptation of the Coen Brothers' iconic film, by the same name, which starred Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Colin Hanks, and Allison Tolman.

If Offerman will be included in the series, he is most likely going to be cast for the role of Carl. On that note, Nick Offerman fans will know that his current show, 'Parks and Recreation', is nearing its end, so 'Fargo' might be an offer worth considering.

Meanwhile, 'Fargo' executive producer Noah Hawley said during the Television Critics Association in July that the series' second season will be set in the year 1979.

"That time period is really interesting in American history; post-Vietnam, post-Watergate, just before Ronald Reagan became president," Hawley said.

Hawley added that while 'Fargo' Season 1 was based on the films 'Fargo', 'No Country for Old Men' and 'A Serious Man', the second season of the show will take inspiration from 'Fargo' (once again), 'Miller's Crossing' and 'The Man Who Wasn't There'.
