'Doctor Strange' Movie Rumors, News Update: What Fans Can Expect From Scott Derrickson's Film?

"Doctor Strange" actress Tilda Swinton has address whitewashing issues on her character while co-screenwriter has shared his thoughts on what fans can expect from Scott Derrickson's upcoming Marvel Comics film.

It is known that Swinton is set to play the role of the Ancient One in Derrickson's "Doctor Strange" and criticisms have surfaces, saying that the film whitewashed the character following the release of the first trailer.

In her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Swinton said that it was not actually an Asian character, mentioned that that was what she needed to tell fans about it. The actress said that she had not been asked to play an Asian character and fans could be very well assured of that. Swinton added that one just had to wait and see, as it was not an Asian character.

Swinton stressed that even the script depicted the Ancient One as non-Asian. In her interview with UPI, the actress said that the script that I had been presented with had not featured an Asian man for her to play, so that had never been a question when she had been asked to do it.

For Swinton, all would be revealed when people saw the film, adding that there were very great reasons for them to feel very settled and confident with the decisions that had been made.

Meanwhile, "Doctor Strange" co-screenwriter Cargill has teased what fans could see from Derrickson's film. In a statement (via Movie Pilot), he said that fans were only getting a like of small taste of just how crazy the movie got. He mentioned that they had only just the slightest hints of magic in there, adding that there were major characters one did not even glimpse in the trailer.

For Cargill, there was so much things going on, adding that it was just a hell of an experience.

Derrickson's "Doctor Strange" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on Nov. 4. Watch the trailer here.
