'Doctor Strange' Movie Release Date, News, Rumors: Joe, Anthony Russo See Stephen Strange’s Team in ‘Civil War’

Along with some details on Scott Derrickson's upcoming Marvel Comics film "Doctor Strange," film directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo have uncovered the loyalties of the Sorcerer Supreme in "Captain America: Civil War." Also, Mads Mikkelsen's role in the Benedict Cumberbatch-led film has been revealed.

The Russos have revealed in the latest "Captain America: Civil War" trailer that the highly-anticipated Spider-Man is set to team up with Iron Man in the film. With this, the duo has recently teased fans once more on what to expect from the two factions in their upcoming film and this time, it is Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange.

On Apr. 5, The Russos have shared a short clip on their official Facebook account named The Russo Brothers. The said clip featured Captain America's team from the recent trailer, which includes Falcon, Hawkeye, The Winter Soldier, and Scarlet Witch. Interestingly, the clip also took a shot of Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, which indicates that Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme is set to side with the Star-Spangled Avenger.

According to Movie Pilot, Doctor Strange is not going to be present in the Russo's forthcoming "Captain America: Civil War," since in the comic boo storyline, Doctor Strange chose to remain neutral with regard the issue, just like the X-Men. The Sorcerer Supreme reportedly isolated himself from the rest and opted to meditate, hoping for a more peaceful outcome.

In other news, Mads Mikkelsen's much anticipated role has been revealed; however, the details are not official. According to What Culture, Mikkelsen has been rumored to play the "sparkly eyed" villain named Nightmare or Kaluu. As per the publication, the actor could play the former, since he was Freddy Krueger's Marvel iteration, who is able to open the likelihood of a magic realist comic book film.

Marvel head Kevin Feige has already teased what to expect from Mikkelsen's character. In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige said that the actor's character was a sorcerer who broke off into his own sect, adding that he believed that the Ancient One was just defending her own power base and the world might be better off if they had been to allow some those things through.

"Doctor Strange" has done filming, according to director Derrickson. On Apr. 3, the film helmer took to his official Twitter account his photo in the comic book shop, holding a "Doctor Strange" comic book. In caption, he wrote "That's a wrap."

Aside from Cumberbatch and Mikkelsen, "Doctor Strange" also stars Amy Landecker, Benedict Wong, Michael Stulhbarg, Chiwetel Wjiofor, Scott Adkins, Tilda Swinton, and Rachel McAdams.

Derrickson's "Doctor Strange" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on Nov. 4 while the Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" hits theaters on May 6.
