"Bloodline" is set to return for its third season in 2017, and Netflix confirmed that it will be its final season.

Rumors about the cancellation of Netflix's original thriller drama had been circulating since the release of its second season, but it was not until mid-September that the streaming platform confirmed the rumors. Last month, Netflix vice president for original content Cindy Holland addressed the speculations and confirmed that the upcoming season will serve as the finale of the series.

In her statement to Variety, Holland said, "Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler are thoughtful and visionary storytellers, who lead a prestigious cast, that includes Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn, who have both garnered two Emmy nominations for their roles on the series."

"Together, with our collaborative partners at Sony Pictures Television, they created a seductive show that Netflix viewers worldwide love and continue to discover. We are looking forward to the exciting climax KZK have in store for the series conclusion in May 2017."

As for the story of the final installment, reports suggest that Danny Rayburn will return in season 3 to execute his revenge plan against his killers. As Nolan Rayburn launches his own investigation to find out who was responsible for his father's death, he will discover that his uncle John Rayburn was actually the killer.

There are speculations that following this discovery, he will loathe John so much to the point of wanting to kill him, just to avenge for Danny. However, the series will later on reveal that Danny simply faked his death and was actually alive.

Netflix has yet to release an official release date for "Bloodline" season 3.
