'Avengers: Infinity Wars' Production News: Movie to be Shot Entirely with IMAX Cameras
In a recently released joint statement, the Russo Brothers explain their approach to shooting the third 'Avengers' movie, making it apparent that the two are in no way taking this endeavor lightly.
The directors will be taking on the challenge of shooting the entire film using IMAX cameras, making it the first of its kind to do so. Big blockbusters such as 'The Dark Knight,' 'Interstellar,' and 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens; used IMAX film cameras for brief scenes, but it has been confirmed that 'Infinity Wars' will be the film to bring us into the future.
The joint statements reads:
"The intent with the Infinity War films is to bring ten years of accumulative storytelling to an incredible climax. We felt that the best way to exploit the scale and scope required to close out the final chapter of these three phases, was to be the first films shot entirely on the IMAX/ARRI Digital camera."
"Over the years, IMAX has had the incredible good fortune to work with some of the world's finest, most talented filmmakers, who continue to push the envelope both technically and creatively. We could not be more excited to deepen our partnership with Joe and Anthony Russo, a pair of filmmakers we believe are next-generation trailblazers. Marvel's Avengers franchise has become a global phenomenon and to have it pay off in this epic way using the IMAX/ARRI digital camera is the very definition of event movie-going."
The expense for such an undertaking is staggering to even think about, however the return from the film is quite likely to cover five times that.
Marvel's 'Avengers: Infinity War Part 1' is slated for release in IMAX theaters on May 4, 2018. The second half will follow on May 3, 2019.
