Reports begin to emerge as Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man 3 may be push back from its scheduled summer 2016 release to the following year, late 2017.

A source from Ain't It Cool News reported the that the movie's launch date is subject to change, but there is no definitive confirmation of the claim. Considering the other movie debuts within the projected season, Sony may not have much room to fit the box office blockbuster series. This cluster of upcoming films just may be the big reason for a delayed release date.

Something else to consider is The Amazing Spider-Man 2, launched just last month, and its failure to meet expectations at the box office. Sony was open about their hopes to hit the billion-dollar mark, but to their disappointment, the film is already starting to fade as it struggles to cross the $200 million-dollar threshold. Poor reviews and harsh criticism is partly to blame for the movie's lackluster performance.

Sony might have taken all the sour comments about the film into consideration when working on the The Amazing Spider-Man 3 project. Two consecutively meager attempts at box office history, could spell disaster for the The Amazing Spider-Man series.

While the movie stands to be released next summer 2016, fans should not be surprised to learn that the film has been pushed back into 2017.
