With the news headlines touting all the negative aspects of the world that we live in, it's especially important to feed our spirits and souls with positive uplifting words, music, and people. Israel Houghton launched his second solo album, since the beginning of his career, and this album is sure to inspire. Israel Houghton's, "The Power of ONE," includes songs from all genres of music. This CD truly displays the diversity and the sheer raw talent that has blessed so many. One of the songs that played on repeat in my mp3 player was "Surely Goodness", which features Christian Reggae artist Chevelle Franklyn. "Surely Goodness" had a wonderful Jamaican vibe that makes the scripture in Psalms 23:6 totally explode in your heart. Furthermore, Israel added some funkadelic influences with the song, "U R Loved" and "Saved By Grace." You will even get some rock flavor with "You Found Me", which features TobyMac. "Just Wanna Say" has a fresh rhythm and praise sound that will cause you to get out of your seat and dance. "Moving Forward" which reminds me of the scripture in Isaiah 43:19, which says, "See, I am doing a new thing…" With its acoustic guitar rhythm, we are reminded that God makes all things new and there's no time to look back but to follow Him forward! Of course, the title track, "The Power of One," provides a call to action that together we can make this world a better place to live in by utilizing the Christ inside of each one of us to start a revolution. The whole album reminds you about the goodness of Jesus Christ and the fact that He is with us so we must praise Him. Israel takes music styles that we love and uses them to carve the Word of God on our hearts.
