Sanctus Real-On Wednesday January 20th the Christian Rock band for the first time introduced their new album that will be released in March 2010! Lead Vocal - Matt Hammitt, Bass - Dan Gartley, Drums – MarkChristian, Guitar - Pete Prevost, Guitar - Chris Rohman. The band presented their new album to EMI staff and guess what? BREATHEcast was right there so that we can keep you updated!
Matt Hammitt the frontman of the band started the introduction of the new album ‘Pieces of a Real Heart’
“Sanctus Real started in 1996 when Chris and me stared to be involved in chapel service in Ohio. We named the band and stared write songs.”
“The name is ‘Pieces of a Real Heart’. We needed to name it like this because songs are about pieces of our lives and all things we are going through,” shared Matt.
After Matthew’s opening introduction we were able to listen to the song ‘Redeemer’ which came in ‘11th hour-at the last moment’ and turned to be in new CD.
Matt: “Proverbs 13: 12 inspired us. I love that verse because Christ is always fulfillment of my hope and dreams. In him I am still dreamer and believer!”
“You know we had a lot of questions about spiritual life that might or might not be answered. We don’t have answers, that’s life! But on the way to heaven we get all the best we can. This is what inspired us for the song ‘These Things Take Time’”.
Song ‘Keep My Heart Alive’ closes the record. Matt: “I wrote the initial idea of that song. Family life and road life and I felt so disconnected from God. So I prayed: Keep my heart alive! It’s really a worshipful song from my heart.”
‘I Want to Get Lost’ came up when we were on tour with Jason Gray. I Want to Get Lost-that’s what God wants for us. He wants us to get lost in his arms.”
“In the song ‘Lead Me’ we put our struggles in front of the world. Being married and being on the road, exit and re-enter, exit and re-enter. My wife came to me last February and told me I need to be a better spiritual leader in our relationship. I had this desire for my family to be secure and for my kids to love God. In order to do that God you need to lead me. Over the past few months God provided opportunity to share my family stories to others and people came to me saying: we have this problem to.”
Matthew continued, “We want to help with this song to develop healthy families and healthy strong children. I hope this song will be beneficial to you. “
“Song ‘Forgiven’ was inspired by my flaws, fears. My emotions take me forth and back but it’s all about what God makes me. I didn’t know how deep impact on people would this song have! We made a website where people confessed their deepest stories-how they need to forgive or they need to be forgiven.”
“Chris Stevens was the producer. He helped us to the next level. “
At the end the band played song ‘Forgiven’ live.
“13 years making music together and we really love each other!” concluded Matt.
