The highly anticipated second Narnia film, Prince Caspian, opens Friday on the silver screen nationwide, adding to the recent trend of faith-encouraging films.
“The Chronicle of Narnia: Prince Caspian,” is a sequel to “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” which topped the box office in 2005.
Masterfully created from the imagination of C.S. Lewis, the movie is especially encouraging to the Christian community as it contains deep messages of faith, such as purity of heart, courage and hope.
The four Pevensie siblings who became kings and queens in Narnia start out the film living ordinary lives in London. However they are soon magically transported back into the world of Narnia.
Once there, they find that hundreds of years have passed and much of that world has fallen, although a few hold on to hope. The children realize they must help Prince Caspian regain the throne from his evil uncle, Lord Miraz.
The children, with the help of Narnian creatures including dwarves, a courageous talking mouse, and a badger are led by the mighty knights Caspian and Peter. They embark on a remarkable journey to find Aslan, a Christ-like lion who can help them rescue Narnia from Miraz’s tyrannical hold and restore magic and glory to the land.
The movie’s director, Andrew Adamson, has said in previous interviews that he tried to stay true to the book in telling the story on the big screen.
The film does not shy away from delivering to the audience a spectacular visual experience full of special effects, and a soaring orchestral theme.
“The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian,” is based on the second installment in a seven book series. |
