"The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." (Gen. 2:7)
Rebecca St. James in the main role of Sarah Collins! Sarah is a young working woman who really wants to get a promotion at her job. She wasn’t close to God since the death of her father. Matt Evans (Julian Bailey)-her boyfriend, regularly stays over.
After several days of morning throw ups Sarah finds out she is pregnant. Pregnancy would ruin her promotion, her plans and over all the couple didn’t even think of marriage yet.
Sarah is struggling with the question how to solve this ‘problem’ as there are ‘more options’. Her friend in work had an abortion at her 16 and recommended her do to the same thing. In the hospital she is given an advice to abortion as well. On her way out from the hospital she met an older woman saying: ‘Don’t do it. The Lord will give you 3 visions,’ handing her a Christmas nativity card.
Sarah told about her pregnancy to Matt who is not ready. At that night Sarah receives the first vision-a dream where she saw her newborn daughter.
Sarah shared she is pregnant with her sister who offered to help her. Her mother overheard she is expecting a baby and the argument arose in which Sarah’s blaming God for father’s death and that God does not care even about her.
Matt having a conversation with his uncle Clay (Brad Stine) about love and life he receives the explanation from Clay’s prospective about real love and real life. Matt starts to see things from the different prospective.
Sarah receives 2nd vision where she meets her daughter in age of 5 having a great fun together and receiving a lot of love as her daughter prepares breakfast for her, they pray together and have a lot of fun sliding together.
Still Sarah is under the pressure at her work. At the same time she finds out her friend suffers from the guilt she had an abortion.
Sarah went to church and met her pastor explaining him about the visions to find out if they are true. Her pastor advices her that the only way to find out the truth is to measure it against the Word of God and against his will.
The third vision appeared in Sarah’s dream where she saw her grown up daughter her grand daughter and a happy family she was a part of. In the second part of the dream Sarah met an old woman-it was herself after year of loneliness and guilt for the abortion. She was encouraged by old woman to take the opportunity seeing things from the divine prospective, to have courage and faith to make the right choice regardless the consequences.
After the third vision Sarah made a choice to keep the baby and announced it officially at her work knowing that this would end any chances to get the better position.
Sarah still scared prays to God confessing how much she needs him and how sorry she is she was hurting God blaming him for years for the death of her father. At the end of the prayer she was thankful for the visions that saved her baby.
Matt rethinking the situation and encouraged by his uncle he promised Sarah to be a best man he can be for her with God’s help.
Sarah and her friend coming to church together and by writing a message for the baby she aborted long time ago, she let go of her guilt and forgives herself.
To me some scenes in the movie were way too long but the conclusion is that the movie has a strong message for the pregnant women that do not want to keep the baby as well as for those who did abort their baby and suffer from the guilt.
What I also appreciate in the movie is the advice given by Sarah’s pastor that you can measure your life and your decisions against the Word of God and his will and that will give you the right direction for your life always.
If you didn’t see the movie yet I strongly recommend it. And if you know someone who might be helped by watching this movie please encourage him/her to watch it.
