Terrence Richburg hails from music royalty. Nephew to the late jazz great
Ronnie Wells and a member of the family which made up the groundbreaking gospel group and former Atlantic Recording artist
The Richburg Singers, Terrence Richburg is following in big footsteps. Proficient in bass guitar, keyboards, drums and electric and acoustic guitars (among many other instruments), he’s played and ministered with the best in the business including
Richard Smallwood & Vision, Maurette Brown Clark, Vanessa R. Williams, Nolan Williams, Marcus Johnson, Alyson Williams, Kim Jordan, Cee Cee Michaela, Yolanda Adams, Aretha Franklin, The Winans, Jennifer Holliday, Tramaine Hawkins, Walter Hawkins, Isaiah Thomas, James Cleveland, and
Shirley Caesar. Now Richburg prepares to step out of the shadows to center stage with the upcoming release of his debut solo project,
My All, on his label, RichEscape Music, on July 15, 2008.
Getting his start in the music industry at the age of 13 as the lead guitarist on the well-known hit gospel program, Spread A Little Sunshine, Richburg was surrounded by the best teachers, most of whom included his family members. Since that time, he’s sharpened his musical craft as a musician, minister of music, producer, songwriter, arranger, and recording engineer. He’s been called on as a musician/musical director for such theatrical productions as “Lord, I’m Coming Home”, “God’s Trombones”, “Dreamgirls”, “The Wiz” and “Ain’t Misbehavin!” A master of the 7-string bass, Richburg has a technique that’s been called “mesmerizing”. He’s even endorsed by Eden Electronics and Conklin Guitars.
Richburg is also label owner of RichEscape Music. Home to recording artist
Terrell Hunt who recently released his debut praise and worship masterpiece
Awesome, and inspirational jazz duo,
R&R, consisting of Richburg on bass guitar and
Howard Riley, Jr. on saxophone, RichEscape Music endeavors to reintroduce the concept and focus on developing, investing in, and presenting their artists in musical and spiritual excellence.
But one of Richburg’s greatest accomplishments is the upcoming release of his debut solo effort,
My All. The 30-song release chronicles Richburg's diverse musical talents and career experiences to date, as heard in the many stylistic flavors and genre settings he has explored during his life's journey. Featuring Richburg on a variety of instruments with a focus on the 7-string bass and keyboards, the upcoming release is to include guest artists and musicians such as
John Stoddart, Vanessa Williams, Amos Saint Jean, Mark Walker, Michael Pugh and Richburg’s brother,
Dehrric, as well as many others.
A master of the bass guitar, a producer’s producer and a workshop clinician, Richburg is one of the gospel music industry’s best kept secrets. Look for his label, RichEscape Music, to release Richburg’s project
