Kevin LeVar, born and raised in Washington, D.C., performed at the "City of Light" in Indian Trails, South Carolina, on Saturday, March 7, 2009. He opened the show with the song "Trading My Sorrows" and was accompanied by the Wilmington Tabernacle Choir. The night of worship continued with an excellent performance as he sang "Let's Come Together", a song he composed himself.
When Kevin LeVar was younger he had two loves: basketball and singing. He realized his calling to glorify God with music when he was 9 years old and expressed that he "just had a love for it." He has written about 300 songs during his career but just released his first solo album entitled Let's Come Together.
When asked how he came to know the Lord, Kevin told of how he grew up in a Pentecostal Church and how his dad made him quote two scriptures every morning before school. Along with singing, he also plays the piano, which happens to have an interesting story behind it.
When he was about 20 years old, Kevin had his pastor pray over his hands that he would be able to play. After 4 months of practice, people thought Kevin had been playing the piano for years.
All things considered today Kevin LeVar is an amazing singer and a tool that God uses to reveal His glory as he continues to devote his life and his music to Christ.
