Hillsong United is not just another band, and the “I Heart Revolution” is not just another CD. Hillsong United is a revolution in itself. Their music not only strives to bring all those who love Christ to come together and celebrate His love, but also hopes to witness to those who do not yet know Christ’s love, and encourages believers to be faithful followers. Modern praise and worship songs define the band. They can be heard in churches all over the world, and this CD is an example to all of how far God’s love spreads.
One of the great things about Hillsong is their devotion to love and worship God, and in a self-indulgent world, it’s very refreshing. Listening to Hillsong is like being in an enormous worship service, with a worship leader leading everyone in song. On this CD in particular, Hillsong shares all of their worship performances across the world. It includes old favorites, such as “One Way” “Mighty to Save” and “From the Inside Out,” as well as some new additions. Each song on the album was recorded in a different location in the world. The double disc compilation starts us off in Brazil, stopping in South Africa, Indonesia, Sweden, Hungary, among many others, and lands us in the United States. The crowd draws you in with their enthusiasm for the songs as the band gives the microphone to the audience to sing their hearts out. It’s an amazing thing to realize that although all these people come from different parts of the world, they are singing the same love song.
Sharing and witnessing God’s love through music is not the only thing that makes Hillsong such a revolution. I am truly impressed by their mission and how they seek to live it out. Although they released this global double disc in March, they are not stopping there. They are planning a DVD that documents their journey through several different countries, what they’ve learned and what they’ve shared. I have only read about what the DVD may contain, but I expect to see God’s love being shown through his people all over the world, I anticipate watching people be changed through Christ’s hand, and I predict seeing all of God’s people coming together to love and worship Him. What I find so fascinating about Hillsong is that it’s not about the band, it’s about people and it’s about God.
Through their music and actions, Hillsong tells their story, and hope others will be encouraged to tell their story of God’s love. I am getting ahead of myself, though; the CD is the one in question here. I can’t help but include the rest of Hillsong’s projects because they help tie the whole purpose of the album together. The album is just the beginning of their journey. It’s the voice, their journeys are the eyes, and we are the action. The album is more than just a mixture of songs; rather, it’s a dedication to God. So go pick up the album, be an inspiration, and start a revolution.
