Dove Award nominees Go Fish are once again generating a buzz on YouTube.com with “The Mom Song,” a cleverly comedic tribute arriving online just in time for Mother’s Day. Written by Go Fish founder Jamie Statema and his wife Julie, and featured on the group’s
Snazzy recording, the song has received over 11,000 hits since being posted on YouTube less than two weeks ago.
In addition, Go Fish is offering a free download of the performance track for “The Mom Song” at the group’s website,
www.gofishguys.com. The special download will allow children of all ages to perform personalized renditions of the song for their mothers.
No strangers to the YouTube phenomenon, a fan-produced video of Go Fish’s “Christmas With A Capital ‘C’” has now been viewed on the site more than 7 million times. The song, which also features comedian Brad Stine, resonates with Americans opposed to attempts to eliminate public usage of the word Christmas.
An emerging force in family entertainment, Go Fish’s latest recording,
Snazzy, released in October and was nominated for a 2008 GMA Dove Award for Children’s Music Album. Produced by Jamie Statema and Darren Rust,
Snazzy contains 12 songs furthering Go Fish’s mission of creating relevant music for kids that communicates biblical values.
The growing line-up of acclaimed children’s recordings from Go Fish also includes
Splash,
Superstar and
Snooze, along with the
Showtime DVD. The group released their second Christmas album,
Snow, in 2006.
The Minneapolis-based trio has been covered by such national media as the “Today” Show, American Profile and Focus on the Family magazine, among other outlets. Go Fish live performances have attracted sell-out crowds across the country, including an audience of 14,000 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
