Now that's the question! On Sunday, August 24th over 160 youth and families gathered for "Youth Skate Night" at Great Skate Roller Rink in Glendale, AZ. The visionary behind the event is Charlotte Turner aka "DJ Make It Happen". Not only did she organize the event, she was found spinning on the 1s and 2s in the DJ Booth. But, of course, she couldn't do this on her own. She was able to assemble over 20 volunteers who made the event go without a hitch. As I talked to many youth, I found out that they were craving for events like this. When the secular teen club is all the rage, having Christian alternatives like this is much needed and appreciated by the youth. The excitement was truly in the air as everyone anticipated the unpredictable sound of a siren to signal the next giveaway of IPODs, sunglasses, gift cards, DVDs, books, t-shirts and not to mention all you can eat pizza and soda for an hour.

Ministering for the night was Christian Rap Artist Joseph aka "The Visionary" and a dance ministry led by Ivory aka "Church Boy Vree". Church Boy Vree and DYT Crew, included seven dancers that attend various universities and colleges in the Phoenix Area. They have been dancing together for less than 2 years now. Their style of dance included a combination of Krump dance, hip hop dance, and modern dance. The crowd was moved as they danced to high tempo Christian Rap music. As the youth were ushered off the rink, The Visionary who is originally from New Orleans took a moment to share with them his testimony of how he came to know Jesus Christ. He shared how his mother prayed for him and through that he accepted Christ and, thus, his life has been changed every since. After that, Minister Llewellyn Jones, youth minister, at Faith Christian Center Phoenix did an altar call and everyone prayed the prayer of Salvation together. All in all, the Youth Skate Night was fun and entertaining.

At the start of the evening, many youth probably would say that they were just "rollin' with" their friends or family but by the end of the night most youth could honestly say "I am now rollin' with J.C. aka 'Jesus Christ'."
